Armstrong and Gooch even spent time following the other food truck teams while the show was in Tulsa.
“We’d look at the other trucks. We wanted to see where other people settled, ”said Armstrong. “We were like their biggest fans when they were here.”
The Pho Nomenal team said Armstrong and Gooch made them feel right at home.
“It was similar to Raleigh,” Lin said of her hometown. “We spoke to the local food truck owners and they went out of their way to help us.”
“We had a lot of fun getting to know them. They were super cute and really helped us, ”added Woo. “You find (camaraderie) everywhere you go, but with food trucks, if you meet the owners, you meet the cook too.”
Woo said that many of the challenges required on-the-fly learning.
“Last week we didn’t know we were going to take on a 72-ounce steak challenge,” she said.
While the women and the other teams were in Amarillo, Texas, on episode four, Florence offered contestants the opportunity to earn more seed money to fund a challenge in that episode.
The women triumphed and drank a whole 72-ounce steak with lettuce, baked potato, bun, and shrimp side.
