Grills and baked goods might not seem like natural accompaniments, but that’s what you get at Front Porch Bakery in Claremore.

Ol ‘Dutchman’s Bakery operated in a small building south of Claremore for at least a couple of decades. About five years ago, a friend of Melissa’s Holt bought it, had concerns about owning a bakery, and sold it to Holt three months later.

Holt’s husband Matt and his boss thought bringing a smoker up front would be fun, and this part of the business grew so quickly that Matt quit his job as a welder and supervisor.

A week before Thanksgiving last year, the Holts opened a new large building on the property that housed the bakery and three tall smokers.

Almost everything is prepackaged for execution, and the choice is extensive. The products on offer include various types of bread, cinnamon rolls, brownies, cookies, pies, cakes, strawberry cakes, ribs, brisket, sausages, beans, corn on the cob, soups and salads, to name a few.
